The un-shielded length at the end of the antenna is the active receiving part of the antenna. If you have accidentally chopped or chewed up your part of your antenna (especially the tip) you might be experiencing reduced range or poor signal.

These antenna are plug and play with FrSky D4R style receivers and require a little soldering but work perfectly with FrSky XSR style receivers.
